Job Summary:

A Barista is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, and tea, in a fast-paced café / coffee shop setting. The role involves delivering exceptional hospitality, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers. Baristas are also responsible for handling cash, managing inventory, and ensuring that all products meet quality and safety standards. Baristas should have knowledge of coffee types, brewing methods, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities of a Barista:

• Operate espresso machines, grinders, and brewers to make and serve coffee-based drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, and espressos.
• Welcome customers warmly, answer questions about the menu, and assist with ordering.
• Help customers choose drinks or pastries, and offer suggestions based on preferences.
• Accurately take orders and process transactions through a POS system (cash, card, mobile payments).
• Regularly clean coffee machines, counters, and tables to ensure a hygienic environment.
• Keep track of coffee beans, milks, syrups, and pastries to ensure sufficient stock; inform a manager of any shortages or equipment issues.
• Heat baked goods, if required, and arrange them attractively in display cases.
• Work closely with other baristas and staff to ensure smooth operations, especially during peak times.
• Stay informed about any menu changes, seasonal drinks, or new products to provide accurate information to customers.

Barista Job Requirements:

• Proven hospitality / customer service skills with a focus on enhancing the customer experience.
• Experience as a barista with knowledge of coffee preparation and serving.
• Familiarity with POS systems.
• Understanding of food safety and handling regulations.
• Previous experience in food preparation and service within the hospitality industry.
