Bar Heretic is a neighborhood bakery/café and wine bar in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. We specialize in natural and organic wines, seasonal bar snacks, and naturally leavened breads and baked goods

JOB OVERVIEW

At Bar Heretic, a Baker is responsible for producing bread and other baked goods in accordance with our recipes. Reports to the Kitchen Operations Manager. 

• Prepares bread, focaccia, rolls and other baked goods 
• Follows proper proofing and baking techniques for each variety of bread
• Maintains a clean and sanitary food production area according to Department of Health standards
• Works towards mastering all shifts and production processes
• Assists FOH café team in counter setup if needed and engages with guests interested in learning about our products

• Performs other duties as required or assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent 
• 1+ year of experience in a baker preparation position
• Basic math and measuring skills
• Strong work ethic, communication and time management skills
• Post-secondary culinary program highly preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Availability to work onsite with an open, flexible schedule often including early mornings and weekends
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
• Ability to work with a deck oven, electric convection oven and commercial spiral mixer
• Food Handler’s License preferred
