Job Title: Senior Jira SaaS Administrator

Location: Washington, DC (Onsite_ 5 days per week onsite)

Duration: 6+ months

Job Details: As a Senior Jira SaaS Administrator, you will serve as the primary administrator for enterprise-scale Jira Cloud environments, ensuring the efficient operation, governance, and continuous enhancement of the Atlassian Cloud application suite. You will partner with technology, infrastructure, and DevSecOps teams to drive value from the platform by optimizing Agile delivery workflows, implementing platform improvements, and providing both strategic and hands-on administration. Your responsibilities will include maintaining platform health, advancing security and compliance standards, and delivering exceptional end-user support across the organization.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain enterprise Jira Cloud environments, including user provisioning, permissions, security, and access management.
  • Design, configure, and support Jira projects-defining workflows, issue types, custom fields, screens, permissions, notification schemes, and project templates.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Atlassian Marketplace applications and plugins to extend platform functionality.
  • Manage Agile boards (Scrum, Kanban), create dashboards and reports, and perform comprehensive project administration.
  • Establish, maintain, and troubleshoot integrations between Jira and other enterprise applications, development tools, or third-party solutions.
  • Develop and maintain Jira automation rules to streamline operations, reduce manual administration, and ensure consistency.
  • Monitor platform health, performance, user activity, and licensing compliance-applying optimization strategies when needed.
  • Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation, process guides, knowledge articles, and standard operating procedures.
  • Contribute to platform enhancement initiatives, migrations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Administer user groups, roles, and access in accordance with established security and compliance policies.
  • Enforce and evolve governance standards, configuration management practices, and platform best practices within the Atlassian Cloud environment.
  • Provide technical expertise, mentorship, and training for administrators, project teams, and end users.
  • Troubleshoot complex platform issues and collaborate with vendors or internal stakeholders for effective resolution.
  • Support and ensure compliance with organizational security, audit, and data governance requirements.

Essential Skills, Experience :

  • Five (5) or more years of proven, hands-on experience administering Jira Cloud (SaaS) environments in a complex enterprise setting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Jira Software, with expertise in configuring projects, workflows, schemes, issue types, custom fields, screens, permissions, and notifications.
  • Strong proficiency in user and group management, platform security, and permissions models within Jira Cloud.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and supporting Atlassian Marketplace applications and integrations.
  • Expertise in Agile and Scrum methodologies, and managing Scrum/Kanban boards, dashboards, and project reports.
  • Ability to develop and implement automation rules using native Jira functionalities and integrations.
  • Proficiency with Jira Query Language (JQL) for advanced search and reporting tasks.
  • Outstanding analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities, especially in diagnosing platform or integration issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to create clear technical and operational documentation.
  • Strong collaboration skills and proven ability to work effectively in a highly integrated, cross-functional technology environment.
  • Deep understanding of compliance, audit, and data governance requirements as they relate to SaaS solutions and Atlassian Cloud platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Atlassian Certified Jira Administrator (ACP-620) or equivalent Atlassian certification is preferred.
  • Experience with Jira Service Management (JSM) administration is a plus.
  • Experience supporting DevOps, DevSecOps, or enterprise software development teams strongly desired.
  • Background in IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and best practices is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing platform governance and automation within Atlassian Cloud environments preferred.
